Over 300 abortions recorded in North West last year

There were over 300 abortions recorded in the North West last year.

The Department of Health has released its official statistics for the notifications it received of terminations in 2022.

In this region, there were 88 abortions recorded in County Sligo and 48 in County Leitrim.

Donegal recorded the highest number at 169.

According to Department of Health figures, there has been a 127% increase in the number of abortions carried out in Ireland since the abortion referendum.

8,156 abortions were carried out across the country in 2022.
