There were 45 people awaiting admission to the two main North West hospitals this morning.
18 were waiting at Sligo University Hospital while a further 27 were waiting at Letterkenny.
Nationally, there were 497 people waiting at hospitals across the country today.
In a statement INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha says that the level of overcrowding being experienced in hospitals is still too high.
The number of people waiting at this point in January since the INMO began counting trolleys in 2006.
