Owner of Sliabh Liag Distillery confirms they will move to Ardara

The operator of the Sliabh Liag Distillery in Carrick in county Donegal has confirmed that gin distillery will also move to Ardara in time.

James Doherty, Managing Director of the Sliabh Liag Distillery says while he cannot give a timeframe at this point the gin operation will also move.

It follows huge disappointment in the local Carrick/Kilcar area following confirmation that the plans for the whiskey distillery were moving to Ardara because of planning difficulties with the site in Carrick.

A public meeting was held on the matter this week where the local community were hoping the owners of the distillery would change their mind.

However, speaking to Ocean FM News today, James Doherty says that while it is with a heavy heart they have to move to Ardara - for financial reasons both the whiskey and the gin operation will eventually move to Ardara:
