Fifteen former county councillors throughout Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal who lost their seats in the local elections last May are entitled to gratuity payments based on their years of service.
Four former councillors in Leitrim will received a total of about €128,000 while three in Sligo will get about a total of about €119,000.
In Donegal, eight former councillors are due to receive payments.
However, a total payout figure for Donegal is unavailable because the council has not revealed the payments to be made to councillors who will not receive their gratuity until they reach the age of 50.
The details were revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request:
Councillors who lost their seats or who decided to retire are entitled to a lump sum payment based on their experience on the local authority.
In Sligo, three former councillors, Hubert Keaney, Jerry Lundy and Seamus Kilgannon, are due to receive gratuities.
In response to the FOI request made on August 4th, the council replied on September 2nd saying payments were being processed and would issue shortly.
It added that the total payment was in the region of €119,000.
The council said details of individual payments to the former councillors would not be disclosed in advance of payment.
In Leitrim, four former councillors are to receive what are known as 'preserved' payments, meaning they will not be paid until age 50.
Sinead Guckian will receive almost €66,000 and John McCartin will get just over €34,000; both of these councillors did not stand for reelection.
Seadhna Logan is due just over €17,000 and Caroline Mulvey will get almost €11,00; these two former concillors were not reelected.
In Donegal, 10 councillors were either not reelected or were not on the ballot paper for reelection. Eight are to get payments.
More than €72,000 was due to the late Sean McEniff, more than €30,000 to John Ryan, €17,000 to Enda Bonner and €61,450 to Terence Slowey.
Payments to four other former councillors Barry O'Neill, Seamus O'Domhnaill, Adrian Glackin and James Pat McDaid are 'preserved', with payment not being made until the reach 50.
Donegal County Council did not reveal the amounts they will be receiving.
Meanwhile, no payments were due to former councillors Seamus Maguire or Eugene Gallagher.
