Pedestrian in his 80's dies in hit and run

An elderly man has died following a hit and run last night.

The incident occurred at approximately 11pm around the village of Keadue, Co. Roscommon.

A man in his 80's was killed when he was fatally injured by a car that failed to remain at the location, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later, the driver of the car presented himself at Carrick-on-Shannon Garda Station, he is 20.

Gardaí are carrying out a full forensic and technical examination of the scene this morning.
