Pension age still on course to increase to 67 in 2021

Concerns have been express by a Sligo Leitrim TD that the Government still not having brought in legislation to restore the old age pension age to 66.

The move has failed to happen despite pre-elections promises from a number of parties to reduce the pension age.   As things stand it set to rise to 67 next year.

The government had previously promised of an independent commission on pensions to examine this issue, however Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny says that now is the time for new legislation to be introduced which would return the pension age to 66.
