People over 70 will spend less on prescriptions

People over the age of 70 will spend less on prescriptions from today.

The government has reduced the charges for people over 70 with medical cards.

They will now pay €2 per item instead of €2.50 and total prescription charges have been reduced from €25 to €20 per family, per month.

The Minister for Health, Simon Harris, introduced the Health Amendment Bill to Cabinet this week bringing the changes into effect from today.
