Pet thieves can face up to 10 months in prison

Anyone convicted of stealing a family pet could face a 10-month prison sentence.

A bill is being introduced in the Dail today to deal with the issue, after a spike in cases during the pandemic.

Leitrim Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon says punishment needs to be handed down to those that carry out such offences.
