POA conference in Sligo: "Overcrowding is putting staff at risk"

Around 120 delegates are attending the annual Prison Officers Association's Conference in Sligo today.

Overcrowding is being highlighted as a major issue as well as the safety of prisons officers.

The two-day conference is taking place in the Radisson Hotel for a third time in recent years.

Assistant General Secretary of the POA is Gabriel Keaveny.
