Preparations underway for Three Day Pilgrimage season at Lough Derg

Preparations are underway to welcome pilgrims for the Three Day Pilgrimage season at Lough Derg.

In recent years before the pandemic, over 10,000 pilgrims would make their annual pilgrimage or retreat on Lough Derg during the summer months.

It's getting underway from Wednesday 1st June - 15th August and has been described as the “Ironman of Pilgrimages”.

Mary McDaid is Head of Pastoral Programmes at Lough Derg, she says they are delighted to be returning to normal and has been outlining what the pilgrimage entails:
