Preschools services must be kept open to help children develop

Children across the counties of Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal have started back at preschool today for the first time since Christmas.

The first phase of the reopening of the childcare sector began this morning with children in the free preschool scheme.

Early Childhood Ireland says around a quarter of its members re-opened today.

Claire Barden from the Early Montessori Academy and Creches in Ballymote and Collooney says it's vital that creches remain open:

The Early Montessori Academy and Creches also recently opened a new outlet in Collooney. Today marks the first day that preschool children are attending the crèche there
