Pressure mounts on Health Minister over issues at Sligo University Hospital

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly is facing increasing pressure to address issues facing Sligo University Hospital.

It's after the INMO last week called for an urgent inspection of the facility by the Health and Safety Authority over what has been described as serious safety issues for both patients and staff.

The matter was also raised at the latest sitting of Sligo County Council where it was agreed to write to the Health Minister outlining the grave concerns locally.

Fine Gael Cllr Thomas Walsh says the crisis currently being experienced, particularly in the Emergency Department, must be tackled ahead of the winter months:
