Documents are being prepared for the second tender stages for two new primary care centres in north Sligo.
It's hoped work will start on the centres in Drumcliffe and Grange next year, subject ot funding.
Already, there's a primary health centre in Ballymote, which serves Gurteen, Riverstown, Geevagh and adjoining areas.
It's all part of the HSE’s National Strategy to develop purpose-built primary care centres that deliver health services such as breastfeeding support, physiotherapy, podiatry, dental and psychology to local communities.
Sligo Independent Alliance Councillor Marie Casserly is hopeful the centres in north Sligo will be completed as soon as possible.
