A Sligo Leitrim TD has described a proposal to give TDs funding for personal security as 'appropriate'.
Public representatives could be given up to 5 thousand euro for security measures.
It follows a spate of recent incidents where elected representatives were targeted at their offices, homes and during public meetings.
In recent weeks, Sinn Féin Justice Spokesperson and Sligo Leitrim TD Martin Kenny has stated that he is planning to move house following two separate attacks at his Co Leitrim home in recent years.
The Irish Examiner reports that proposals to see funds given to TD's and Senator's thought to be at 'high-risk' of attacks, are awaiting sign-off.
Speaking to Ocean FM news, Deputy Martin Kenny says its important that public representatives are protected as much as possible;
