Protest to highlight plight of pensioners losing out because they had to leave workforce

The cases of pensioners who are losing out on various entitlements because they had to leave the workforce early will be highlighted at a protest in Dublin this morning.

Most of those affected are women, many in the north west, who took time off work to care for children or to look after other family members.

One such woman in Leitrim told Ocean FM News how she will not get a €5 rise in her State pension in March but rather a percentage increase, which will be less.

The ICA, SIPTU, and Active Retirement Ireland are among the groups campaiging for the situation to be changed.
