Questions asked over toppled flower box in Carney

An appeal has been issued in the village of Carney, just outside Sligo, to find out why a flower box keeps getting toppled over.

The flower box, which is situated at the local bus stop, is being looked after by the local tidy towns committee but on a few occasions, they have found the flowers uprooted and strewn along the street.

The latest incident was just this morning.

In a statement on social media, Carney Tidy Towns say that they are unsure as to why this keeps reoccurring, and are questioning whether it’s being done maliciously.

Other theories include people climbing on top of it or using it as a bench while waiting on the bus.

They are asking the public that if it is a reoccurring accident to contact the committee so that they can put a preventative measure in place.

They are also reminding people that their volunteers give up their own time to make the village a beautiful place and so, support and feedback would be much appreciated.
