Questions asked over why search & rescue boat in Sligo stood down

Questions are being asked over why the Civil Defence search, rescue and recovery boat in Sligo has been stood down.

 

The issue has led to concern locally that if a tragedy were to occur, there is a lack of a skilled and knowledgeable team to search the local rivers.

Sligo County Council says it is down to staffing issues and that it is currently being dealt with.

 

Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy says it's imperative that the service is back up and running as a matter of urgency:
