The Killybegs Fishermen's Organisation has welcomed a report which re-evaluates the quantity of mackerel permitted to be caught of Irish coasts.
The report, published by the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) shows a significant increase in the mackerel stocks available.
Last year the KFO says it had advised the council that its cut of 68% in the amount of mackerel that could be caught by fishermen was excessive.
KFO Chief Executive Sean O' Donoghue says ICES needs to issue revised guidelines as a matter of urgency.

Donegal Fianna Fail TD says this 'wrong' that was inflicted on fishermen must now be rectified.
