A record number of homes have begun construction in both Sligo and Leitrim.
Figures released this evening by the Department of Housing show that 238 new homes were under constructed in December 2023 in Sligo while a further 129 were underway in Leitrim.

It represents a 53% increase in Sligo and a 44% rise in Leitrim when compared to 2022.
In a statement, Housing Minister Darragh O'Brien described the figures as impressive and indicate that supply, which is key to addressing housing needs continues to increase.
