Rent prices have risen across the North West region by an average of more than 11% over the last the last number of years, according to a report by daft.ie.
In Sligo, rents have risen by 12% since this time last year, Leitrim 9.2% and in Donegal rents have risen by 14.1%.
Nationally, average rent prices have increased by 13.4% between January and March of this year which is just shy of matching the largest increase ever recorded which was 13.5% in late 2016.
Since 2013, renting nationally has risen by just over 50% while people who have remained In long term renting have seen rates increased by just 27%
Author of the Daft report, Ronan Lyons, says that market rents have seen an increase of 50% higher than sitting rents.
