Sligo-based coast guard Rescue 118 assisted in a multi-agency operation on Croagh Patrick which saw a woman hospitalised on Saturday.
At around 3pm, the woman sustained a head injury while descending the cone and was subsequently walked to the eastern end of the ridge path.
As the woman’s condition began to deteriorate, the emergency services were alerted.
Mayo Mountain Rescue Team and Rescue 118 were tasked to the scene by Gardaí.
The casualty received immediate medical attention from the coast guard medic.
With the assistance of mountain rescue personnel, who provided high-line support, she was safely winched aboard the helicopter and transported to Mayo University Hospital.
