The Rescue 118 helicopter was tasked to a callout last night to recover a body near Inishbofin Island off the Galway coast.
It's understood a fisherman passed away after getting into difficulty.
At around 10.15pm on Wednesday evening, the alarm was raised after a fisherman was overdue at sea and was presumed missing.
Malin Head Coast Guard responded to the calls, and a multi-agency search operation was carried out along the east and north shorelines of Inishbofin Island, along with the Rescue 118 helicopter from Sligo, and both lifeboats from Clifden RNLI.
The fisherman's body was recovered just before midnight by locals involved in the search, and this was later confirmed the Rescue 118 team.
