Revenue under fire over letters sent about unpaid Local Property Tax

A Sligo County councillor this morning is being strongly critical of the revenue for issuing in excess of 150,000 notices to people that have failed to pay the Local Property Tax.

 

Revenue says about 90 percent have paid the tax on time, but the remaining 10 percent have received the letters.

Sligo Drumcliffe Councillor Arthur Gibbons says it's disgraceful behaviour to be pursuing people for these payments during a cost of living crisis.

 

The Sinn Fein party has always strongly opposed the introduction of the Local Property Tax and Cllr Gibbons says low to middle income earners are being hit hard:
