Road, footpath and lighting works that began in the village of Ballintogher in County Sligo this week are expected to continue for about a month.
The works are being funded through a €20,000 allocation under the Low Cost Accident Scheme.
Delays are expected for those passing through Ballintogher but Sligo Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says the works will have a number of benefits, including safety for pedestrians and school children.
