Scam calls: Just 'hang up' advise gardai

Gardai are asking people to beware of scam callers calling from an 083 number.

There has been a large number of the calls today, with callers telling people they are from the Department of Social Welfare and that there is a warrant for their arrest.

There have also been scam calls asking people to renew their Amazon accounts.

Gardai advise that when people receive such calls they should just hang up.
