Children who are eligible but not availing of school transport for the 2020/2021 term can claim a grant for private transport.
The grant is calculated based on the distance from a school and is worth a maximum of €5.10 per day.
It will be paid at the end of the school year after filling out the required information such as number of days attended.
Speaking to OceanFM News, Sligo/Drumcliff Independent Councillor Marie Casserly says those who have been refused a placement, or if there is no bus in your area, you are also eligible for the grant.
