UPDATE, 8am:
A 53-year year old man out walking has died after having been struck by a car near Sligo town.
The accident occurred on the N15 main Sligo/Donegal road in Lisnalurg, just after 11 o'clock last night.
The pedestrian was removed to Sligo University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The N15 remains closed and diversions are in place.
Investigations are continuing and gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
6:30am: There's been a serious traffic accident near Sligo.

It occurred between a pedestrian and a vehicle about 11pm last night.
The N15 is closed just north of the town at Lisnalurg.
Diversions are in place via the Old Bundoran Road.
The N15 is expected to remain closed for the coming hours.
