Seven new dumping sites brought to Council's attention

Seven new waste-dumping sites have been brought to the attention of Donegal County Council since the recent RTE investigates programme.

The information was revealed by the executive of the Council at a special meeting of the Environment committee of Donegal County Council today.

The Council says it's actively investigating all waste dumping sites brought to its attention and it said 22 more complaints had come in on the new hotline it set up last week to deal with the issue.

The meeting was called by the Chair of the Committee, Sinn Fein Councillor Jack Murray.

He says while not all of the reports are major dumping issues, every incident of illegal dumping is a problem and needs to be tackled.
