Significant funding announced for regional and local roads

Significant funding has been announced for regional and local roads today, with the North West set to receive an allocation of just over 68 million euro.

Donegal has received the highest allocation in the region, of almost 38 million euro.

Just over 30 million has been allocated to Sligo and Leitrim. Sligo is set to receive just over 17 million euro, with Leitrim receiving just over 13 million.

However, there’s disappointment in south Donegal after the Pettigo road missed out in today's major funding announcement for regional and local roads.

Although Donegal is to get almost €38 million under the investment programme, one of the big highlights will be road realignment and bridge works at Fintra.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Michael Naughten says while the Glenmore Bridge will see some improvement works as part of the programme, he will be lobbying for more money to get the entire road at Pettigo upgraded:
