Sinn Fein Cllr Liam Doherty confirms he will not seek re-election

Sinn Fein Councillor Liam Doherty has confirmed that he will not seek re-election in upcoming local elections.

The current Cathaoirleach of the Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District has been a local Councillor for the area since 2014.

In a statement, Cllr Doherty confirmed that he does intend to see out the rest of his mandate, and pledged to work hard for the people who elected him until the last day of the term.

Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty paid tribute to colleague and friend and thanked him for his dedication to his local community and his public service.

He also remarked on the huge contribution he has made to the party in Donegal.
