Opposition TDs say Denis Naughten's communication with a representative of INM 'stinks to high heaven'.
The Minister for Communications defended his conversation with a lobbyist working for Independent News and Media, saying he didn't reveal any sensitive information about the proposed takeover of Celtic Media.
But he says he regrets the conversation ever took place.
Taking questions in the Dail today, the Tánaiste Simon Coveney stood up for his government colleague and accused some TDs of just looking for a head:
