The Tánaiste has accused Sinn Fein of 'clever politics' but says that the party is fooling no one.
Michael Martin was responding to Donegal Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty in the Dail this afternoon who once again proposed the idea of a spring bonus for those on social welfare.
It comes as coalition leaders are meeting to the future of certain cost of living supports.
The Green party believes the most vulnerable families should be protected through existing social welfare streams but universal supports, such as the energy credit, should be paused until next autumn.
During an exchange in the Dail this afternoon, Deputy Pearse Doherty asked Tánaiste Michael Martin what the Government is going to do for the families who will continue to struggle through the crisis:
