Sligo County Council are actively seeking a site for a new Cemetery in North Sligo.
Sinn Fein Councillor, Thomas Healy, says the local authority confirmed at the most recent meeting that negotiations are ongoing to acquire a piece of land.
He says there has been a need for a new location in recent years as there is next to no space left in Ahamlish Cemetery.
Speaking to OceanFM News, Councillor Healy says families in North Sligo deserve a new burial ground for their loved ones.
