Sliabh Liag in Donegal was one of the country's most popular attractions in 2016 according to Fáilte Ireland.

Rising 600 metres above the Atlantic Ocean, the cliffs on the West Donegal coast have been named as one of the country's top twenty free visitor attractions.

According to Fáílte Ireland, the cliffs attract almost 180,000 visitors per year.

Other Donegal landmarks included on the list are Grianan of Aileach in Inishowen and the Malin Head viewing point. Both of which attracted 266,000 people between them.

Speaking to Ocean Fm News, Joan Crawford from Fáilte Ireland said the reason why Sliabh Liag is so alluring to visitors, is because of its prominence as one of the signature spots of the Wild Atlantic Way.
