Sligo among worst affected after thousands of homes lose power

Sligo was among the worst affected counties as over 53,000 premises were left without power as a result of Storm Ashley.

Among the places in Sligo left without power were Collooney, Ballintrillick, Castlebaldwin, Tubbercurry, Ballytivnan and Oakfield.

Sligo, along with Leitrim and Donegal were some of seven counties included in an Orange wind warning on Sunday.

While other counties that were badly hit with power outages were Mayo, Galway, Clare, Kerry, Cork and North Dublin.

ESB staff are working to restore power to the thousands of affected homes, with expected restoration times available on their website.
