Sligo and Leitrim record low apartment planning permissions

Sligo and Leitrim among the lowest numbers of apartments granted planning permission in 2024.

According to the latest figures from the CSO, across the last year, 8 units were granted in Sligo, and 12 units in Leitrim, which is only higher than Longford on 7.

Meanwhile Donegal had 94 units granted.

When compared with 2023, the number of apartments granted planning permission fell by almost 39%, while house approvals were down by 2.7%.

While in relation to new house units, Donegal was granted 904, Sligo 140, and Leitrim 55.

And 46% of all apartment units granted permission in 2024 were in Dublin.
