Local Independent Alliance Councillor in Sligo Marie Casserly says a discussion is needed on a women's role in modern day Ireland.
Junior Minister, John Halligan, was fined yesterday for asking a female applicant if she had a husband and children.
He claims he wanted her to know the work hours could be flexible, but didn't ask other candidates for similar information.
Cllr Casserly says she too has been asked inappropriate questions that are simply considered ok to ask a woman but would never be asked of to a man:
