Sligo County Council is to call on the HSE to announce a date for the provision locally of abortion services through the public health system in the county.
It's after a motion from Solidarity People Before Profit Councillor Gino O Boyle was agreed by councillors at their meeting today.
Provision of abortion in the north west had been affected by some medical staff having conscientious objections but Cllr O Boyle says women are being failed because of the lack of GP services.
