It’s expected that Sligo County Council will close all local amenities including beaches in an attempt to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Ocean FM news understand that the Gardai have advised the local authority to take the action after a large increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the County over the Christmas period.
There have been reports of large numbers congregating in Parks and local amenities throughout the County. Sligo/ Drumcliff Fianna Fáil Councillor Donal Gilroy says the focus now must switch to protecting people.

The detail of the restrictions has set to be fully completed agreed on however Cllr Gilroy says it will probably be similar to the restrictions that were imposed in the spring of last year which restricted people taking exercise to within 2 KM’s of their homes
