Sligo Councillor accuses the Government of not doing enough to lower the cost of living

A Sligo County Councillor has accused the Government of doing nothing over more looming price hikes.

People Before Profit Cllr Gino O'Boyle is warning that people are facing further price hikes on electricity, gas and mortgages which will see inflation rise above the already high 7%.

SSE Airtricity has increased electricity prices by 24% from May 1, affecting 250,000 customers. It will add another €338 to their annual household bill

Gas is also going up again while The Central Bank is also set to increase interest rates.

Cllr O'Boyle believes that there are ways to counteract the impact this will have on people's pockets:
