Sligo Councillor calls for reduction in property tax.

A Sligo Councillor is calling on the local authority to reduce the local property tax by 15 %

Sligo Strandhill Fianna Fail Councillor Tom MacSharry will propose the reduction at the September meeting of Sligo County Council.

The move if successful would bring the rate of tax back to a base level and will see the increased that was introduced last year disappear.

Although such a reduction will impact greatly on the amount of revenue available to the Council for vital services, Cllr MacSharry says that with the level of suffering people have endured during the Covid-19 pandemic a property tax reduction is needed.
