There have been serious safety concerns over a number of trees in north county Sligo.

It has been claimed some of the trees have grown to a dangerous height in Grange and are now hanging close to a local housing estate.

The Countess Markievicz monument and a local primary school in Rathcormac could also be under threat due to a similar issue.

Sligo-Drumcliff Municipal District Councillor Donal Gilroy says with the winter months in sight, it’s imperative the matter is dealt with as soon as possible.
