Questions are being asked over the purpose of the yellow cycling signs situated in various parts of County Sligo.
The signs currently don't have the 1.5m safe passing sign attached and there are calls for the warning to be added to them.
Cllr Donal Gilroy says he has witnessed several instances where vehicles, sometimes lorries, who over take cyclists, don't leave enough space.
He says the signs need to be upgraded as a matter of urgency:
