Sligo county councillors observed a minutes silence this afternon for Jo Cox, the British MP who was shot and stabbed to death.
Jo Cox was attending a constituency clinic when she was brutally attacked.
The minutes silence was proposed at this afternoon's annual meeting of the council by outgoing cathaoirleach Rosaleen O Grady.
Cllr O Grady said she thought it was important that the council recognised the attack on Jo Cox as a huge departure for society.
