Sligo County Council is to receive €50,000 in funding for Christmas markets and lights.
It's part of a national €450,000 Government funding pot for local authorities across the western seaboard to assist them the run up to Christmas.
It is intended that this funding will be used to support Christmas Markets, or other such events, and festive activities such as Christmas lights in smaller rural towns in these counties.
It is hoped that these supports will encourage people to shop local and help local economies.
