A Sligo father whose family has been unable to avail of respite for their son for nearly two years is welcoming the reinstatement of a new service.
The HSE has confirmed that a new respite facility is to open in Tullaghan in county Leitrim in June to give families with relatives with special needs a break.
There has been no service available in the Sligo Leitrim area since last April when the Solas Respite Centre in Ballytivnan closed.
John Doyle's son Evan has a severe disability.
Mr. Doyle says the restoration of a respite service is welcome as many families were unable to make the trip to Monaghan which has been the only other option available to them in the meantime:
