Sligo Garda Station suffering from severe shortage of personnel

Sligo Garda Station is suffering from a severe shortage of personnel, according to the President of the Garda Representative Association.

 

The comments come following revelations that Sligo has not been allocated any long term Garda probationer since February 2020, even though it's regarded as one of the most overstretched stations in the North West.

There's also been a spree of crime in the town and surrounding area of late, including the brutal assault of Tom Niland in Skreen in January and the murders of Aidan Moffat and Michael Snee in April.

 

President of the Garda Representative Association Brendan O'Connor says there are a number of issues at play that's resulting in a shortfall of frontline Gardai in the town:
