Gardaí in Sligo have issued a warning after a number of vehicles were found to have defective tyres.
The Roads Safety Authority examined a number of vehicles during checkpoints in recent days and several drivers were issued with tickets for excessively worn tyres.
It is an offence to drive with defective or worn tyres. The RSA say this attracts a fine of €80 and up to four penalty points upon conviction
Gardaí are advising motorists to ensure their vehicle is in a roadworthy condition before setting off on a journey and conduct all relevant checks.
