It's hoped that County Sligo may have its own festival and events manager later this year.
Sligo County Council is seeking approval for the position from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
The cathaoirleach of the Sligo/Drumcliffe Electoral Area, Cllr Thomas Walsh, says funding for the post was included in the council`s 2021 budget.

He also says a new five-year Festival and Events Strategy is due to be finalised shortly.
