A letter, on behalf of staff at Sligo University Hospital, has been sent to the Fire Safety Officer at Sligo County Council, calling for an urgent inspection of the Emergency Department.
It was sent by Industrial Relations Officer with the INMO Neal Donohue.
The letter details concerns over the safety of staff and patients in the event of a fire, due to access issues, created by the obstruction of trolleys/chairs in corridors.
Staff also believe there would be limited ability to use fire safety equipment in the event of a fire due to the overcrowding in the department.
